A collaboration between our in-house construction team and CAAM Construction & Design Inc. has allowed us to overhaul the elevator lobbies and corridors at 50Q. Transforming them from the original finishes, we have upgraded floors 2-9 with modern and contemporary elements composed of identical finishes as the main lobby.
“Europro planned to update the building when the Kitchener-Waterloo portfolio was purchased in 2017 and the execution has lived up to the expectations. The modernization started with an extensive restoration of the building lobby followed by the transformation of the common corridors and washrooms throughout,” revealed Crystal Heenan, Europro KW Director of Property Management and Leasing.
Bringing the area back to base building conditions allowed the teams to use the fresh canvas to introduce a new look to the common areas. “By stripping the finishes down and adding the new components, we have given the building a refreshed and increasingly inviting atmosphere,” mentioned Tom Hearn, Europro KW Construction Manager. This included upgrading the LED lighting, introducing new paint, wallpaper, ceramic floor and wall tile, carpet, ceiling tiles, and doors. Additionally, we have replaced the existing tenant signage and floor directories to complete the new look.
“The finishes are clean and modern and on par with what you’d expect to see in a Class A offering in downtown Toronto. People spend much of their day at work, so it’s important to provide them with an environment that is pleasant to be in. When planning and implementing renovations, tenant comfort and well-being is always top of mind,” furthered Heenan.
With the reduction of foot traffic in our buildings, Europro has taken the opportunity to complete projects with minimal disruption to tenants. Crystal Heenan noted this as a crucial aspect of any improvement project. “Part of our commitment to improving the building includes doing so in a way that limits disturbance to tenants, allowing them to focus on what they do best; their business.”
To accomplish this, our team and contractors have been working diligently and have emphasized the importance of communication. “Throughout the entire project, there has been clear communication and constant availability with the Europro team, which allows us to get through hurdles and tackle any challenge as they appear. We have enjoyed working with everyone on the Europro team while completing this job,” explained Chad McDougall, President CAAM Construction & Design Inc.
