Canstruction Returns to Lambton Mall With Huge Success

Sarnia April 02

Canstruction returned to Lambton Mall after a two-year pause with 11 teams building structures using non-perishable food items that will help restock the shelves at the Inn of the Good Shepherd food bank in Sarnia.

On Saturday March 26th, the 11 teams had the opportunity to construct their builds with the judging scheduled for Sunday.

This year’s awards recipients included:

Best Use of Labels and Judge’s Favourite – Pembina Pantry Packers for the display of “CAN Tut” Best Use of Theme – ReMax for their “Bulldozing Hunger” structure Best Rookie Team – Cope Construction and “The Giving Throne” Best Meal – “Community Garden” by Shell SMC

All structures will be on display at Lambton Mall until April 12th, with visitors having the ability to vote for their favourite until April 10th. The structure that raises the most money will be awarded the prestigious “People’s Choice” award.

This year’s teams sourced 42,512 food items in total to make the structures.

Canstruction is an international event held at about 200 locations, and Sarnia typically finishes in the top 25 for the amount of food collected and money raised.
